We are developing SAPUI5 application with mostly sap.m libraries because of responsiveness and possibility to work on every device but our client require that users on desktop must receive notifications no matter how we could achieve that. The whole concept of this application is based on notifications and the first version of it is native Android app with GCM notifications. Now, because a number of users don't use Android phones or will likely access application on desktop computers we develop web version and because the whole backhand/administrative part of application is developed in ABAP on SAP ERP system and web services are developed on separate Gateway server, the most logical solution was SAPUI5. We don't have SMP and purchasing itis not an option
But how to notify users?
(the first example is that user must first register and than administrator have to approve him and he cannot know when is he approved without periodically trying to login.. and that is just registration, later comes all kind of offers and important notices..)
I read about ABAP Channels (we don't have 7.4 system and "know how") and Gateway notifications (again no "know how"), GCM Web notifications in Chrome browser and even windows tray apps for periodically pull requests but I don't know even where to start. For Android app we send notifications directly from ABAP server to GCM server but this Web notifications are quite different.
Please, help us find any kind of mechanism for notifying users on Windows desktop machines.
